Canon Zr500 Mini Dv Digital Video Camcorder

You are buying a Canon ZR500 mini DV NTSC digital video camcorder that includes a new battery and charger.  When I turn on the camcorder it will stay on for a few seconds and turn right back off.  Not sure what the problem is.  Both viewing windows work when the camcorder does turn on.  You are buying AS-IS with no warranties and no returns.  Also the tape mechanism does work when the camcorder is on.  Sometimes I can get it to record for quite awhile(several minutes) before it resets and other times it only takes a few seconds to reset to the main Canon window.  I moved the battery around and that is not the problem.  I have not tried to replace the CR1616 backup battery.  Cosmetically it is in excellent condition.
